It was always a little reckless to indulge Wade's bullshit. Clearly Peter had a soft spot for him now and he was genuinely proud of that. He even unlocked the window! Gone were the days when Wade had to jimmy it open and help himself to the place uninvited.
So imagine his delight that when he popped that purposefully unlocked window open, there was a half naked Spidey waiting for him. This was even better than Christmas morning. Wade pulled his mask off and flung it away to some random corner of the room. "I didn't realize you were waiting for me so eagerly." He practically purred, eyebrows wiggling dramatically for effect.
Wade had worn him down over the years what with all the innuendo and flirting, and as a result, Peter put up with said bullshit. He stood up from the place where he'd been sitting and took a few steps closer to the other man.
"I don't know about eagerly, but we hadn't seen each other in a while and I wasn't sure how serious you were being." Peter was smirking, though. No matter how annoying Wade got, there was a part of him that was still endearing to those familiar with him.
"I'm always being serious when it comes to seeing you, handsome. Don't wanna deprive you of your Wade time." There was a big, genuine smile on his face. A lot of Wade's attempts to get attention were overdramatic, but he did have genuine feelings for Peter. And he wasn't shy about it.
Since Peter took the initiative to get close, Wade b was more than happy to place a hand on his hip and give it a soft squeeze. "You've been doing okay? Spin-kicking bad guys in the balls?"
"Of course not." Wade Time was strange and fascinating. They would go off on the weirdest tangents together, or try to one-up each other in the quips department. Then sometimes, it'd be a weird pseudo-philosophical discussion about existence and reality. You never really knew where talking to him would lead.
Except today, it was pretty obvious, especially when Wade puts a hand on him and pulls him close. Peter doesn't touch quite yet, but he'd definitely thinking about it. "I've been doing as well as can be expected with the insanity that is my life. And I don't fight dirty. No family jewels get harmed during battle."
It's funny. The more Peter seemed to genuinely accept Wade's advances, the more careful he was about making sure they were okay. It was one thing when he was just being a wild dumbass, and another when he was trying to figure out what they were even doing. It wasn't shyness or a lack of confidence as much as Wade really did not want to fuck up badly enough that Peter relegated him back to square one. And as prone as he was to fuck-ups, it was a Herculean task. For now, at least, he didn't push further.
"That's the difference between you and me, babe. Nut shots are hilarious." At least he wasn't straight up killing people as often as he used to. That was Peter's influence, too, him and his constant bitching about how killing people was wrong, or whatever. Killjoy.
"A little less hilarious when you have super-strength. They don't tend to recover from those." Not that he knew from experience, but if he could dislocate someone's jaw just by applying a little pressure, he could imagine what would happen to far more sensitive body parts.
He finally decides to touch back, since Wade still has a firm hand on his hip. He leans in, tracing a finger down the other man's chest, over the spandex and down to his belt. He teasingly plays with the buckle, not actually undoing it yet. "How about you? Hadn't heard from you in a few weeks and figured you were out of the country or dead again or something."
The smile on Wade's face turned into more of a smirk when he felt the hand trail down his chest. He let that distract him instead of arguing that bad guys didn't need functioning balls anyway. Peter always won those debates anyway. And Wade was much more interested in seeing what else that hand can do.
"Both are true." He laughed. "But I can't seem to stay dead or far away from where my sexy Spidey runs around in spandex." He let his hand slide back for a gentle grope of the younger man's ass. It was bound to happen eventually, at least Wade had mostly managed to be patient before he helped himself. Progress.
Peter knew the cheat code to win arguments with Wade: start touching. It wasn't fair, but he enjoyed exploiting it anyway. When the other man's hand wandered over to Peter's ass, he allowed it.
"Wow, I never get both guesses right." He tried to keep the conversation PG while doing decidedly non-PG things with his hands. He does undo the belt this time and lets it fall to the floor. One of his hands goes back up to Wade's neck, pulling him down for a kiss. The other hand stays at Wade's waist, but his fingers start to drift downwards, teasing just outside of the place the merc really wanted him to touch. He was curious to see how long he'd be able to hold out.
Wade responded eagerly to the kiss, adding a little pressure. Truth be told, he loved when Peter teased him. Made it all the more satisfying when he finally got what he was after, and he was willing to work for it. The hand groping at that beautiful ass tightened its grip to show his eagerness.
"You made good guesses." Wade murmured against his lips, letting them brush together as they did so. "That's the only stuff that would keep me away though." Otherwise he did tend to bother Peter pretty often. It was nice to know it was missed when he wasn't there, though. "C'mon Petey, you know I want you."
It wasn't all that often that the X-Men actually called Deadpool in for assistance. Sure, he'd been vying for a spot on the team for years, but Scott couldn't stand him and that was all that mattered. Logan trusted him, though. So every once in a while, when they needed a man of his caliber, and were really desperate, they'd put out the call. And Wade would answer, both because he was that kind of man, and because underneath it all he desperately wanted to be an actual hero.
Some Sentinel asshole named Nimrod, of all things, had come from some alternate future to hunt and kill all mutants. Not great. Wade was an important addition to the team because he would serve as the perfect bait. Just be his usual self, draw the fucker's attention, and keep the focus on him while the X-Men looked for an opening to shut his shit down. His healing factor worked a little differently than Logan's--he could not die. Had tried many times, in many ways, even hired people to kill him, and it never worked out. Which meant that he could take everything Nimrod had to offer and more. And sure, it was going to hurt like a bitch, but he wouldn't die and that was the key.
Wade saw no reason not to have fun with it, running his mouth and showing off his moves. Energy blasts, powerful leg kicks, chunks of metal being lobbed at him, sharp bladed arms--Nimrod had plenty of attacks, and enough of them hit and did damage that there was blood and guts everywhere. Not like he needed all that anyway. Nimrod's advanced computer brain seemed to struggle when it came to calculating a way to neutralize Wade's powers. It kept it entertaining for him, watching some bullshit AI struggle to figure him out. Even Wade didn't know what Wade would do next.
It sounded like the plan from the X-Men was to have Rogue absorb the powers of a few of them, to try to teleport pieces of the Sentinel to different areas, but she would need some sort of additional invulnerability, too. Wade had to admit he was curious about her. He hadn't talked to her much, just knew that she was close with Logan and had a thing about touching. His focus was mostly on the white and purple bastard in front of him, but occasionally he glanced back to see how far along they were in their plan.
Rogue's powers were more offensive and close contact. It meant that she had to truly commit to learning hand to hand contact, so that she'd be able to defend herself until she could get in close enough for a touch. Sentinels were another animal entirely. It required a team effort to take one down. This one in particular was constantly changing and shifting itself to better the advantage. She didn't know much about Deadpool save for Logan's gruff approval of the mercenary, but she had to admit, he was really doing them a solid by distracting Nimrod.
Between her own bouts, she saw all the creative and gruesome ways he was torn apart and killed, yet somehow, he mended and kept going. He even kept all the candor and sassy mouth he was apparently known for.
"You sound like you're havin' fun," she said wryly when they found themselves in close proximity. Rogue didn't like taking from people she knew without their explicit consent, but she knew she could get much closer to Nimrod with a little of his invulnerable touch. "You always this cavalier in a fight?"
Her tone was light and amused. She could see how his personality could be one that had to slowly grow on Logan like a fungus.
"I'm having a blast, beautiful." Wade practically purred as he ducked out of the way of an energy blast headed his direction, turning to watch it blow a chunk off a building next to them. The grin on his lips was hidden behind the mask, but it was clear in his voice. Already Rogue seemed better than most of the X-Men he'd encountered, so many of them seemed to have a stick up their ass. "It'd be better with some theme music, but it must not be in the budget."
The moment Wade saw Nimrod turn his eyes to Rogue, he took two steps forward and spun, letting each of his katana deflect off the metal of the Sentinel with a loud clang. "Stay focused, Thanos. Your ADHD is kicking in." It wasn't about doing any actual damage, it was about keeping the focus on him. Keeping the others safe. There were tears in his uniform since it didn't heal up like his body, exposing scarred flesh to the light of day. Nothing indecent was showing, but the reason he wore a full body suit became a lot more apparent.
The next time he ended up close by to her, he lifted an eyebrow. Somehow the eyes of his mask allowed for it to be noticeable. "You need me to sing some Bloodhound Gang or can we get with the skin-on-skin contact?" Her needing to borrow from him was the only thing that made sense, otherwise he wasn't sure what she would be waiting for. He had the energy to fight for days, but it didn't seem like the city would appreciate that much, with all the damage being done. Not that it was his problem.
"You're funny," Rogue replied in amusement. Her brows were somewhat knitted together. He was quippy and even quicker with a clever retort. He didn't let things like being stabbed and near death get him though. For someone who had a tendency to brood at times due to her lot in life, Wade was a little bit like a breath of fresh air. His suit showed the brunt of all his damage. There were so many tears and rips that revealed scarred skin. Some wounds were still healing.
She knew that the moment they touched, she was going to get an overwhelming rush of everything Wade Wilson. It wouldn't just be his abilities, but his memories too. She wondered if Logan had explained that to him. Would he be just as nonchalant if he knew everything she was taking?
"This might hurt a little," she said apologetically. Her cold, bare hands pressed against his side where his skin was exposed. Her power immediately kicked in as she drew his power and memories and life force from him. It was such a rush, different with Wade in a strange way. Gasping, she pulled away as she tried to situate the new jumbles of memory in her head. A piece of Wade was forever in her psyche now.
Wade might have refused if he knew she would be seeing his memories, but only because he wouldn't want to have to put her through that. He'd been through a lot in his childhood—made more complicated by the fact that in his brain there were several different versions of the things he'd been through and even he wasn't sure which was true.
All he could really be sure of was after a stint in the army, and a suicide attempt at nineteen, he was hired as a mercenary that got to pick the most deserving of targets to die. Then came the cancer, being violently tortured by that asshole Francis, further suicide attempts, having to kill his only friend to put him out of his misery, and back to being a merc that no one would let join their team. Not the kind of thing Rogue deserved to have to experience.
It did ache, but it was hardly noticeable compared to the wounds he'd already gotten in the fight. The miraculous thing was that it also temporarily healed up his scars. They were a result of his powers healing his inoperable cancer, so a brief stint with them weakened returned him to his former good looks. Wade gazed down at his arm where some of his suit had torn and was shocked to see flawless skin. It wasn't something he thought he'd ever see again, and it took his breath away. It also distracted him from the Sentinel in front of him.
Her reality started to get a little strange. Rogue couldn't fully make sense of it because she had flashes of his life in her mind eye's. He'd suffered so much, yet he still managed to keep himself mouthy and over the top. A coping mechanism maybe. She saw the changed to his skin too. Smooth, unblemished skin like her touch had somehow healed him. There wasn't enough time to ruminate over that.
Instead, she saw the Sentinel gear up to attack. An energy projectile formed into a blade that headed straight for Wade. She moved fast. She had to hope that his regenerative healing would do her well, but she counted more on Kurt's teleportation skills. There was a blinding stab of pain in her back, but in a puff of brimstone they disappeared.
They reappeared on the other side to Nimrod's back. Rogue grimaced at the blood that dripped down her chest and the hole in her uniform. Thankfully, she was already healing even if it did hurt something fierce.
"Thanks for letting me borrow your powers for awhile," she told him wryly. Now that she had the ability to get close enough without any real consequences, she gave a grin and poofed again to start getting the job done.
The moment that Rogue stepped in front of the energy blast stretched long as time seemed to slow down around him. It seemed to be a simple enough decision for her to make, but it rattled something deep down within the ruins of Wade's chest. Preventing an attack against Wade was not something people did, and not just because of his powers. He wasn't the type of guy that provoked any kind of protective emotions in others.
It was the first time in a very long time that Wade was surprised enough to be rendered speechless. To that point that he didn't even an offer an inappropriate comment about her suit ripping. There was no clearer sign of what an affect such a simple action had over him. Wasn't often that he behaved himself.
There was no protest as Rogue grabbed and teleported him, and the strange sensations hardly phased him. He watched her move, a stupid grin tugging onto his lips as she smiled at him. That snapped him out of his thoughts.
"Fuck him up!" Wade called after her as she disappeared, a laugh evident in his tone. He was terribly impressed by her, the composure she managed to show despite being wounded in a way that might have normally taken her down. And he felt a strong confidence that she would be able to get things done.
Rogue thought it was the least she could do. Sure, Wade could take the hit, but why let him? He'd generously allowed her to take a piece of him and his powers. She could save him one painful stab wound. She didn't really think about how he had no witty remark for her. Her mind was focused on completing the missions. Thanks to the powers she'd accumulated, she systematically began taking the Sentinel down piece by piece.
It was quicker work than she was expecting. It was exhilarating too. She took a variety of deadly blows, but she simply shrugged them off after the initial spark of agonizing pain. Rogue was no stranger to gritting her teeth and putting her shoulder into it.
By the end of it, her suit was just as battered and torn as his. The blood showed against the green though she was glad she'd gone with the black instead of the yellow. She could only imagine how awful the blood would've shown on it. She was breathless when she was done, poofing next to Wade.
"Are you always this hungry after?" she wondered. She wondered if it was her metabolism working overtime with the constant regeneration.
